Candidate's Statement

Andrew Scott Rencich

I am a conservative 38 years old; I have a beautiful wife of 17 years April Rencich and two gorgeous daughters Katelyn (20) and Riley (15). I grew up just outside Chicago in a small town by the name of Valparaiso, IN. My mother Debra and father Darrel Rencich raised me to appreciate what we earn in life and to never accept defeat.

After moving out on my own at the age of 16, I quickly realized the realities of growing up. At 19 after living on my own for two years I was ready for a change in environment, I needed structure. I enlisted in the US Army on March 14, 2004, as an 11B (Infantry soldier). I elevated quickly through the leadership ranks. Transitioning into more demanding roles of responsibility becoming a Sargent First Class(E-7/SFC) 18F (Special Forces Intel SGT) otherwise known as a US Army Green Beret.

After returning from my 3rd combat deployment in 2011, our family relocated to Crestview, FL. with the 7th SFG(A) BRAC realignment to Eglin AFB. We purchased our home and started to grow our roots within the community. My wife and I stood up our 1st business AA Tactical Inc. in the spring of 2013. We determined that the business was a much better option for our family than my current career path. After spending 14 years on active duty, we decided that I would exit the US Army and transition to the Florida National Guard. I mention all of this because the military has made me what I am today.

During my time within Crestview my family and I have faced multiple interactions within the “old” city due to our lifestyle, expectations, business, & investments. These interactions gave me the internal drive to learn the processes and make the community better for my family; and everyone that lives, works, or visits our community.

In April 2019, I was elected and sworn into the Crestview City Council. We have made major changes since the new administration took control. Our voters allowed the city to advance to a new form of government during that same election. The implementation of a city manager has allowed us to completely change the way the city operates and how it is governed.

Fast forward three years, I have learned so much and met so many people. My wife and I started and have grown our 2nd successfully businesses Aerohead Inc. in Okaloosa County. I understand the mental, physical, and financial hurdles that must be fought. America economy is built on small business, no matter how big they are now they started off small at one time.
